Abstract
This presentation details the importance of establishing a balance between past and present techniques to create sustainable economic opportunities for communities. Sustainable community development will become an organic process by combining elements of traditional knowledge and skills with science and research, preservation, education and new technologies. The presentation will focus on using an organic approach to create healthy sustainable communities. This can be achieved by linking traditional/local values and cultures; environmental sustainability and conservation; education; spontaneous tourism; and new technologies to enhance visitor experiences.
