Dr. Richard Baydack, University of Manitoba

In the third week of October 2006, Dr. Richard Baydack of the University Manitoba visited Asuncion     to sign academic agreements with the Universidad Nacional de Pilar (UNP) and the Universidad Nacional de Asunción(UNA) and also to give presentations at both universities. 

A Specific Agreement for International Educational Cooperation was signed between the University of Manitoba and the Universdad Nacional de Pilar.  The agreement entails the exchange of staff and students between both Universities and cooperation on environmental research projects in the Ñeembucu region over the next five years.

The signing of the agreement was of great importance, since it outlined the exact details that were only basically covered in a General Agreement for International Educational Cooperation signed over five years ago.

CPEC also worked with the Unversidad Nacional de Asunción and the University of Manitoba when working to create a General Agreement for International Educational Cooperation between the two universities.  This agreement, also was of great importance since it affirmed the interest the two institutions shared in working together and will act as the first official step to future cooperation.
